Hey! I’m Kelly and this is the beginning of my adventure into something new. I am blessed to be a stay at home Mama of two beautiful babies and bonus mom to two young adults. My husband retired from the Army and went back to work when our oldest was born so I could stay home. Like most moms with two children under 4 years old I spend most of my day herding cats, putting out fires, and unburying myself from the never ending pile of laundry. When I’m not changing a multitude of diapers or laughing at Bluey on the TV I enjoy quilting, crochet, baking, gardening, and the five to ten minutes of semi quiet I get when I go feed the chickens.
Smitty Mini Farm
Smitty Mini Farm was born on Instagram in January of 2020 when we first dived in to raising pigs. You can still find us on Instagram; I expect to post on there as much if not more than I end up blogging. I guess I assumed if we had both chickens and pigs we could be considered a mini farm. Sounds reasonable right?
So as I start this blog we currently have chickens and cats. The last pigs are still with us, they just live in my freezer now. They are much better behaved in there for sure. We just cleared my Granpa’s old garden patch for the next round of pigs and tomorrow we start my garden! The plan behind our mini farm is chickens, pigs, cows, horses (yay!), and gardening to feed ourselves. We’ll see how long it takes us to get through that list and what else we add along the way. So welcome! Come along and join us for the ride as we figure this farming thing out.
